For the past several years, we have been doing a Caregiver Appreciation Celebration and invite all of our incredible Caregivers for a lunch and afternoon of fun, games and prizes. We could not have this event in person this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We were so happy to have so many of our wonderful Caregivers join us during our online virtual celebration on April 10, 2021. It was a nice alternative to be able to “see’ each other since we could not be in person.
2020 was challenging in so many ways, and we had to learn how to manage wearing masks, social distancing, quarantining and the emotional aspects of the pandemic as well. The Caregivers working with us are an important part of the All Trust family. We are so proud of each of them, as they are fantastic examples of our Core Values of Communication, Compassion, Dedication, Education, Honesty, Respect and Teamwork. We are so thankful for the fantastic care they provide to our clients.
Part of the event is the announcement of the Caregivers who have been nominated for the honor of receiving the Caregiver of the Year award. We ask the families working with us if they would like to nominate their Caregiver for the honor. This year, we had over 60 nominations, which is more than we have ever had in past years. That is quite impressive and says a lot about the care which is being provided. In a year filled with so many challenges, it was truly inspiring to see such wonderful recommendations about how our Caregivers went above and beyond in the face of a global pandemic.
This year, our Caregiver of the Year was awarded to Shimeshia Green. Mesha (as she is known to her family and friends) has been with All Trust for six years and we are so happy she is a part of our team. Mesha has earned the designation of an Advanced Care Expert 3, an “ACE 3”. This means she has continued her caregiving education at All Trust by participating in the exclusive Advanced Dementia courses we offer, which consist of 48 hours of training that was developed by our very own Dan Kuhn, LCSW, Vice President of Education. Mesha is an extremely devoted caregiver to her client and the letter we received for her nomination was beautiful. Throughout the pandemic, she has shown dedication, tenderness and respect to her client and those involved in her clients care. Her work ethic shines bright and is an example for others to follow. Congratulations Mesha!
